Sonic Visualizer is a powerful musical utility that is designed to provide advanced tools for visualizing music via waveforms and spectrograms and thus disecting audio files to analyze their components. It supports virtually any audio file and provides rich tools for viewing, editing and also annotating waveforms by adding labels, specifying time points etc. You can add plugins and third party extensions and for instance you can extract chords and musical notations from audio files which is a very helpful tool for intermediate and advanced musicians.
