Syncthing is an open source file sync application that is an alternative to cloud file sync systems like Dropbox, and commercial P2P sync clients like BitTorrent Sync. Its main appeal is in the fact that file synchronization is done privately and relies merely on your existing devices, thus bypassing the need for centralized third party servers. It doesn't need IP addresses or advanced configuration: it just works over LAN and over the Internet. Every machine is identified by an ID, which you can share with your friends. The program is supported on multiple platforms and can be accessed via your web browser.
