7-Zip is a powerful archiver and unpacking tool. Though its main archiving format is .7z it still supports most popular archive types and even a larger list of file formats when it comes to unpacking. It boasts a high compression rate and is a very fast archiver and unpacker. Once installed it integrates with the Windows shell so that any archive can be unpacked on the spot with one click. It can launch .exe files right within the archive. The program has a command line interface and supports scripts.
